Lazy A$$

I did something bad yesterday.

I took a day off from training.

For no real good reason other than "I was tired." and "I was not inspired". I mean, I wasn't even THAT tired. I have no excuses.
I ditched a work out.
What did I do instead?
I went home and cooked and ate and cooked and ate and ate and ate until I couldn't breathe. haha.

Oh well. Today is a new day.

At least I busted out 7.25 miles on Tuesday, which I was able to do at my goal-ish pace. It was the longest run I had ever done alone without an iPod. And guess what? I didn't really miss it at all! I had so many thoughts and emotions to keep me company that I didn't feel lonely one bit.

I spent the run thinking about how many miles I had left to go. I also thought about how I would describe the run on the blog, and actually had a lot of good ideas that I no longer remember, now that I am actually writing. This happens to me all the time. I'll think of some clever thing to say on a run, but by the time I'm finished, I've forgotten all about it. Stupid brain!

I finished the run strong, in about the same time it's taking me to run 6 miles, so I was very pleased with my pace. I am really hoping to beat my PR for the 10K this Sunday. Not gonna lie, I'll be quite disappointed if I am slower. If I can beat it by even 10 seconds I will be a happy camper.

On Tuesday night, James and I got all ready for the Gregory Isaacs concert. I even put on make up, did my hair AND put on a dress! A real flippin dress! But alas, the concert was cancelled when we got there. Not wanting to waste a perfectly good outfit, we continued our date night at a nearby restaurant/bar. I got a coconut mojito and a futuristic dessert:
what Is that?
That, my friends is a flan on fire. The server lit a shot of brandy on fire and poured it over the flan. And yes. I got drunk off half a cocktail and a burning dessert. I'm telling you; SUCH A GRANNIE.

This dessert, the container of ice cream James and I polished after we got home, and the fact that my pants are even tighter still has got me thinking it's time for another nutrition reassessment. I think my problem is snacking too much. I've been making myself snack more, even when not hungry/full, because I am worried of not getting enough calories. But I think this can stop/be reduced, becasue obviously, if I'm still gaining, I'm in no worries of coming up short. I also need to cut back on the sweets yet again. I have been allowing myself A LOT more junky food this past two weeks cause I have been feeling kinda sad (like, about the interview and such) But gosh darn it, it's been two weeks already, so I have no more excuses to continue this behavior. With only 4.5 more weeks till I leave for Hawai'i, I really need to jump back onto the healthy bandwagon. Wish me luck, and please feel free to smack me across the face and tell me to stop eating that third waffle for dessert! Oh, and feel free to leave advice as well :)

I hope everyone is having a pleasant almost-Friday. I really hope to catch up with everyone's blogs in the next couple of days. I have not had time to read/leave comments, and I am having withdrawals! I need my bloggy-blog fix! :) haha.

Happy running!

  1. Ok it's official, everyone is having an off week and now I don't feel so bad! I hope you enjoyed your day off and don't beat yourself up too much over it. Sometimes you just need to take a break.

I need to join you on the no more snacking wagon, I've been stressed and those 7-11 M&M cookies have been appearing in my hand again. I swear I don't know how they go there. Must have followed me back to the office...

  2. Yup, off weeks all around that I can see. One day off never hurt anyone, in fact it's sometimes a good idea to do what your body says. So long as you get back on track, which I see you did!

Sometimes when you start running more you muscles get a bit bigger and then get smaller. Is it all around tight clothes or just in your legs? Either way it's good to reevaluate your eating. I do it every. single. day. sigh. hahaha!

  4. It's okay to take a day off now and then, even for no good reason!

I've been too lenient in the sweets department lately, too, and I'm trying to keep myself on a tighter leash. There are too many reason to say YES PLEASE! *sigh*

Awesome job on the 7+miler. You are in GREAT shape for a PR, girl!

  5. I am always rearranging my training plan to accompany a day 'off' here and there - it happens!

A lot of runners (myself included) seem to snack more when in training mode - for fear of not eating enough and instead eating More than enough. something as simple as REALLY focusing on when you're hungry or "just snacking" makes a huge difference. before you grab something just think - is it a physical hunger or a "mouth" hunger?

Good luck with the 10K this weekend!!!

  6. I always think of blog posts and then forget them afterwards! Annoying for sure.

BTW, I’ve found that smacking girls across the face, even virtually, is never a good idea.

  7. Good luck with your race on Sunday, you'll do great! We all need that break sometimes, and I've totally done that where I've taken the day off and ate to my hearts content. Just remember - it's well deserved!

  8. Hope the race goes well. A PR involves lots of things, so a strong effort under the circumstances is always a victory.

As for snacking, I just quit and stop all snacks and desserts. If I have one, I have another, and another and then dessert.

    Good luck!

  9. LOL and I feel your pain!! Some days you just need a rest physically and mentally. Way to listen to you body! I just ran 6 today without my ipod - by my self - b/c it was dead. And I was the same - after a bit, I really didn't miss it. It was almost refreshing to just be out there running with no distractionsx

Food is totally my weakness. I <3 anything with sugar, fat, fried, ....you get the drift. Hence the reason I started running. LOL. You'll get it under control where you need it.

BEST OF LUCK tomorrow!!! Go kick some race bootay!!

  10. Sometimes you just need a day to be lazy, it is ok! I always think of things to write about while running and they always sound so good. Then when I actually sit down to write I forget or it just doesn't sound the same anymore. Good luck on the 10k.
